In 2003 Sharp County, in which Cherokee Village is located, had a per capita personal income (PCPI) of $17,247, and a total personal income (TPI) of $301,200. This TPI ranked 52nd in the state and accounted for 0.5 percent of the state total. In 1993 the TPI of Sharp was $202,956 and ranked 51st in the state. The 2003 TPI reflected an increase of 2.9 percent from 2002. The 2002-2003 state change was 4.7 percent and the national change was 3.2 percent. The 1993-2003 average annual growth rate of TPI was 4.0 percent. The average annual growth rate for the state was 5.0 percent and for the nation was 5.1 percent. Whether you are retired, semi-retired, or still employed, if you are looking for your dream home, you'll find it here! From modest cabins to up-scale lake and golf course homes, you'll find some great values in Cherokee Village. The taxes on these homes are also very low, ranging from $500 annually. Located within the Highland School District which is comprised of tree campuses, Highland is fully accredited and has an excellent student-teacher ratio. A complete curriculum is offered in grades K through 12, as well as all major sports programs, including golf and tennis. The school has always been very competitive in all sports, having won championships in many classes. Cherokee Village is also fortunate to be in an area of the state which offers access to many schools of higher learning, including state and private colleges, universities and technical schools. Many of these schools are within daily commuting distances, and some have bus service to the area on a daily basis. |
