| Friendly, prompt, courteous
service, and good, wholesome food makes Brandywine Downs a “don't miss”! As its name
implies, you'll think you are dining at the track… “racing form” menus, walls adorned
with racing memorabilia and photos. And, best of all, the food is delicious! Homemade wheat bread, baked in clay pots and served with creamy butter was served immediately. Rich onion soup, thick with onions and broth and a layer of lightly browned mozzarella cheese made our mouths water, anticipating the rest of our meal! The “Filly Filet” was absolutely superb — juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly to order, with Béarnaise sauce served on the side. The Crispy Duck exceeded our expectations – crispy skin covering succulent meat — a perfect portion! We passed on the creamed spinach, but the baked sweet potato was sweet and fluffy, and huge! Fresh sautéed mushrooms were delicately seasoned and a perfect accompaniment. Don't forget to leave room for dessert here! The Milky Way cake was out of this world — a huge portion, with drizzled chocolate sauce and a dollop of fresh whipped cream, was more than we could finish! Mom’s Apple Pie – flaky crust, loaded with apples and served warm with ice cream — just melts in your mouth. Brandywine Downs has a large and varied menu, including fresh fish, beef, and chicken, as well as a lovely selection of wines! The bar is a great gathering place, with a friendly, mature easy-going crowd — a great stopping place for before or after dinner! Under new management, Brandywine Downs is off to a spectacular start! No matter what the occasion, Brandywine Downs offers all you could ask for – a most enjoyable dining experience! Handicapped access. |
